Philadelphia, rated best US city to visit by the New York Times, brims with fine dining options, bars, cafes, ethnic food, modern eateries, and you-name-it. You never have to look far for viable dining options in this city of brotherly love. Except when it comes to boozy brunch.
There are several BYOB brunch places and ridiculous amounts of “drink specials” – but rarely are there good drink deals when it comes time for brunch. There certainly aren’t any affordable unlimited drink specials. New York, on the other hand, defines boozy brunch.
This visit to New York was on a Friday, so the options were fewer. We stumbled upon a $22 brunch special at La Flaca, a Mexican restaurant and bar at the Lower East Side. The brunch special includes a full meal and unlimited drinks for up to two hours. We got the choice of frozen margarita, sangria, bloody mary and mimosa. I went with the spicy huevos benedictos and a side of every drink option. They were so generous with the refills that I didn’t even use up the two hours.
